Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar Fasciitis Treatment From Our Vancouver Chiropractor

At Kilian Chiropractic, our Vancouver chiropractor offers plantar fasciitis treatment to patients in all areas of Vancouver, the Lower Mainland, and beyond. Whether you have been recently diagnosed with plantar fasciitis or are experiencing common plantar fasciitis symptoms, our experienced team is here to help. We offer holistic, drug-free, and non-invasive treatment to help you find relief from your symptoms and return to your normal way of life as much as possible.

Common Plantar Fasciitis Symptoms and Causes

Specifically, plantar fasciitis refers to a painful foot condition that occurs when the tissue that runs across the bottom of the foot (and is responsible for connecting the toes to the heel bone) becomes inflamed. There are many potential causes of plantar fasciitis, though you can also be genetically pre-disposed to it if you have flatter feet arches or if you have a family history of the condition.

Often times, plantar fasciitis can be caused by a lack of arch support, so it's not uncommon for people who tend to wear flats or sandals to develop this condition over time. People who are overweight are also at a greater risk of developing the condition, as are those who spend a lot of time on their feet (especially while standing on hard surfaces such as solid floors).

The most common symptom that people with plantar fasciitis experience is that of sharp foot and/or heel pain. Many describe the pain as a "stabbing" feeling, and in many cases, the pain is worse in the morning. Some people with plantar fasciitis may also experience:

  • swelling
  • tenderness
  • sole pain

In many cases, the pain may be serious enough to cause a person to limp when they walk.

How Chiropractic Care Can Help

If you're experiencing symptoms of plantar fasciitis, we highly recommend that you schedule an appointment with our chiropractic care team. We offer a number of treatment and management options that can help to restore the balance between your feet and spine, including spinal adjustment therapy. We also specialize in plantar fasciitis exercises, which we can walk you through in our office; these exercises can help to relieve inflammation in the affected tendons. You can then perform these plantar fasciitis exercises regularly in the comfort of your own home to find relief over time.
