Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Treatment From Our Vancouver Chiropractor

At Kilian Chiropractic, our Vancouver chiropractor offers holistic, drug-free, and non-invasive treatment solutions for the things that ail you. What many of our patients don't initially realize is that we don't just treat back and neck pain in our office. We're also able to treat a number of conditions that affect other areas of the body. Carpal tunnel is an example of a condition that causes pain and other symptoms in the hands and arms—yet are treatable using chiropractic care because of the link between the spine and limbs.

Carpal Tunnel Symptoms and Causes

Specifically, carpal tunnel syndrome is caused when the median nerve, which runs through the wrists of each hand, becomes compressed. This is often a result of repetitive movements, such as typing at a computer. Carpal tunnel is especially common in those with desk jobs, but it can affect anybody who works with their hands.

There are many common carpal tunnel symptoms, through pain and tingling or numbness in the hands and/or fingers is by far the most common. Many people report that their pain and symptoms worsen at night, but this can vary from one person to the next. Some people also report that the pain extends from the hand and shoots up through the wrist and arm as well.

Preventing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

In most cases, carpal tunnel syndrome can be prevented by simply taking regular breaks from working with your hands. Special braces and supports can also help to prevent the median nerve from being compressed or damaged. For those who work at a desk job, making sure to have proper posture and arm/wrist support is a must.

How a Chiropractor Can Help You Find Carpal Tunnel Relief

If you're suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome, the good news is that chiropractic treatment can help you find relief. Specifically, we often recommend spinal adjustment as a means of treating and managing symptoms associated with carpal tunnel syndrome. This treatment focuses on correcting imbalances along the spinal column, which in-turn yields benefits for the limbs and other areas of the body.

Physical therapy options offered by our chiropractor can also help to achieve relief from symptoms while relieving pressure on the median nerve. This carpal tunnel treatment, along with at-home care, can help you overcome your pain on a daily basis.
