Fibromyalgia

What Can a Chiropractor Do for Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia (also commonly referred to as fibro) is a condition affecting the musculoskeletal system and is extremely common among adults. Specifically, fibro as a condition is made up of a set of specific symptoms.

Unfortunately, those living with fibro are often misdiagnosed or even dismissed by their doctors, which can make living with the condition even more of a battle. Here at Kilian Chiropractic, we understand the pain that comes along with living with fibromyalgia and offer specific treatment options to help provide relief.

Symptoms of Fibromyalgia

So, what are the common signs of fibromyalgia? Typically, the main symptoms include anxiety and/or depression, fatigue and overall loss of energy, and pain that spreads inexplicably throughout the body. In many cases, patients may also report that they experience a lower threshold for pain and have tender areas throughout the body.

Statistically, women are significantly more likely to develop fibro than men.

If you feel like you've been aching all over and have had difficulty concentrating as a result, you may want to see a doctor to see if you can get an official diagnosis. Furthermore, if you've been experiencing the above symptoms in conjunction with muscle stiffness, dryness of the mouth, and chronic headaches, then it's likely that fibro could be the cause.

Possible Treatment Options

Unfortunately, as of right there, there is no cure for fibromyalgia, and there are no treatment options that will relieve all of the symptoms of the condition. However, there are some different treatment options, ranging from medications and exercises to conditioning, that may be used.

There is also the option of seeking chiropractic treatment for fibro. Many patients have found that having regular chiropractic sessions that involve spinal adjustments and massages can help to relieve many of the symptoms of fibro, including pain, soreness, and muscle stiffness.
