Sciatica

How Your Chiropractor Can Help You With Sciatica

Sciatica is a very common condition that is caused by compression of nerves in the lumbar spine and surrounding areas. There are many different causes of sciatica, including herniated discs and even tumors. Sciatica is especially common during pregnancy and after childbirth in women. By understanding the signs and symptoms of sciatica, along with the potential treatment options, it's possible to prevent this condition from having a major impact on your life. Here at Kilian Chiropractic, we specialize in the treatment of conditions such as sciatica and are here to help you.

Common Sciatica Symptoms

There are many different symptoms that are commonly associated with sciatica. For example, many people who suffer from this condition suffer from leg pains, cramping, and even back pain. The severity of these symptoms can vary greatly, as can the frequency of these symptoms. For example, some people may go through periods of time where they aren't affected by their sciatica, or the symptoms may only manifest themselves when the person sneezes, coughs, or makes other sudden motions with the body. Either way, if you're suffering from these kinds of symptoms, including a sharp and stabbing pain in the lower back, it's important to see a doctor as soon as possible for a proper diagnosis.

Possible Treatment Options

If you're diagnosed with sciatica, the good news is that the prognosis for most people is pretty good. There are a number of great treatment options available depending on the severity of your discomfort and the extent of the condition. Ice/cold therapy and ultrasounds are both potential treatment options to discuss with your doctor, though you may also want to speak with a chiropractor about the possibility of exploring spinal adjustments as a form of treatment.

Here at Kilian Chiropractic, we can help you determine if chiropractic care is a viable treatment option for your sciatica. To schedule an appointment or to find out more about our practice, feel free to give Kilian Chiropractic a call at 604-688-0724.
